HOW TO USE THIS BLOG

This blog site works similar to a web page. There are links to information such as websites, pdf documents ets. However, a blog has a feature called "Posts". These can be identified in a blog by their title which is usually a date stamp such as "TUESDAY, APRIL 1, 2007". At the bottom of each post there is information on the author of the post, date and a link for comments. The comment section of the blog is the feature that gives a blogsite its strength and functionality. As an interested citizen and user of the blog, you can provide valuable feedback on issues. You can also view other citizens' comments and respond to their questions or comments.The comments are moderated by the creator of the blog. This is primarily done to avoid profanity from being posted on the site.To post a comment, click on the link "comments" below the post you wish to comment on. A dialog box will appear similar to creating an email. Type in your comments, enter the word verification (security measure to keep spam out), pick your choice of identification and click "publish your comment". This sends your comment as an email to the moderator who will then post your comments on the blog. Visit the site as often as you like to see if others have responded to your comments or if you have additional comments to add. Happy blogging!
Note: The latest/most recent items are on top and the oldest are at the bottom. You can also search the blog by using keywords such as "Vision", "survey" etc. The search bar is on top of the screen.

ACTION PLAN

The 2008 Parks, Recreation and Action Plan also adopts an action plan for the next six years. The action plan provides a proactive approach to fulfilling a few of the many goals that are listed in the comprehensive list of goals.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The City of Oak harbor's Parks and Recreation Plan is currently being updated. The process began in 2007 with a public input process - SURVEY. The process also includes an advisory team of representatives from various entities on the island. The update includes a complete restructuring of the paln, layout, philosophy and scope. This blog in intented to share information with interested citizens on many aspects of the plan and also receive feedback. So, please feel free to post your comments and opinions!

VISION

The City of Oak Harbor is a beautiful place where the natural environment is woven into the urban environment with such care and precision that the sense of where the built form stops and nature begins is not known.

It’s a place where human nature has the opportunity to find its balance with its surroundings by merging of the urban and natural environment in seamless ways, inviting nature into the community and creating a wide range of spaces and experience where community can gather as one or the energy of one can rest in solitude and peace.

It is a town where the residents of all age groups are active and healthy, and have a wide range of choices for recreation, engaging themselves in mental and physical activity all year round.

It’s a City where the environment is clean with beautiful landscapes that line the streets and pathways, opening up to breath taking views of the water and mountains. It invites boaters and kayakers into the community compelling them to spend time at this premier waterfront community.
