This blog site works similar to a web page. There are links to information such as websites, pdf documents ets. However, a blog has a feature called "Posts". These can be identified in a blog by their title which is usually a date stamp such as "TUESDAY, APRIL 1, 2007". At the bottom of each post there is information on the author of the post, date and a link for comments. The comment section of the blog is the feature that gives a blogsite its strength and functionality. As an interested citizen and user of the blog, you can provide valuable feedback on issues. You can also view other citizens' comments and respond to their questions or comments.The comments are moderated by the creator of the blog. This is primarily done to avoid profanity from being posted on the site.To post a comment, click on the link "comments" below the post you wish to comment on. A dialog box will appear similar to creating an email. Type in your comments, enter the word verification (security measure to keep spam out), pick your choice of identification and click "publish your comment". This sends your comment as an email to the moderator who will then post your comments on the blog. Visit the site as often as you like to see if others have responded to your comments or if you have additional comments to add. Happy blogging!

Planning Commission forwards recommendation

The Planning Commission held a public hearing on the 2009 Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan on January 27, 2009. Staff gave a presentation on the planning process and the various steps that have led up to the public hearing. The Planning Commission closed the public hearing and forwarded the Plan to the City Council with a recommendation to approve the Plan as proposed. The City Council will also conduct a public hearing on the Plan. The hearing is tentatively scheduled for the March 3rd, 2009 City Council meeting.

PUBLIC HEARING SCHEDULED - January 27, 2009

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing for the proposed Parks and Recreation Plan on January 27, 2009. The meeting will begin at 7:30pm at City Hall.

Planning Commission Meeting Dec 23, 2008 Cancelled

The Planning Commission meeting that was scheduled for December 23, 2008 has been cancelled. A public hearing for the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan was advertised for this date. The hearing is tentatively rescheduled for the next regular Planning Commission meeting on January 27, 2009. The official notice for the hearing will be published in the Whidbey News Times.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The City of Oak harbor's Parks and Recreation Plan is currently being updated. The process began in 2007 with a public input process - SURVEY. The process also includes an advisory team of representatives from various entities on the island. The update includes a complete restructuring of the paln, layout, philosophy and scope. This blog in intented to share information with interested citizens on many aspects of the plan and also receive feedback. So, please feel free to post your comments and opinions!
